In 1940 it was expected that the Germans were about to invade England, so Geoffrey was evacuated to Australia on the Polish ship "Batory", taking 10 weeks to get fro Liverpool to Melbourne. He spent most of the war years with Percy and Mollie McCann (and their son Max).
